Certified API 570 Piping inspectors must have a broad knowledge base relating to maintenance, inspection, alteration and repair of in-service metallic piping systems. The API 570 examination is designed to determine if applicants have such knowledge.
This certification program benefits employers and the industry as a whole by helping to:

API 570 certification is valid for a three-year term.
The aim of this course is to prepare candidates for the examination API 570. The course contents include all aspects necessary for preparing to the exam:

Pre-Course Review Assignment (Self Study):
A course self study binder of documents included in the Body Of Knowledge, API 571, API 574, API 577 and API 578 not covered in the classroom sessions will be provided.
Major codes/standards included in Body of Knowledge (BOK). These documents include API 570, ASME B31.3, ASME B16.5, ASME Section V and ASME Section IX.
After course completion two practice exams / questions with answer keys will be left with the students to use as study and review tools. These exams are very representative of the actual API administered examination.
The qualification requirements for API 570 Piping inspector certification are based on the combination of education and experience related to in-service metallic piping systems. This experience must have been acquired within the last 10 years while employed by, or under contract with, an authorized inspection agency as defined in API 570.

The API 570 exam day is 8.5 hours long, and includes a short tutorial session, 3 hours for the closed-book portion, a 1-hour lunch break, and 4 hours for the open-book section.
